As women in the workplace, the way we relate with the people we work with is like dealing with family members. Maybe it’s our nesting instincts, but many woman treat co-workers like an extended family. Whatever the case, this trait can be a blessing and a curse. We tend to take things personally when we have disagreements with our coworkers. We worry about our coworkers personal problems and many times, we cannot resist the urge to “fix” their problems. One time I actually brought my sewing kit to work so I could replace a button on Jim’s khaki pants. (No, he wasn’t wearing them at the time. Yes, he was wearing a different pair while those were getting fixed.)
However, if us women tend to make co-workers our extended family, how does our co-workers think of us? This article from Huffington Post made me realize maybe I am the “mommy” of the office. See if it applies to you too.
