The greatest show on dirt.
That’s how Rodeo Ruth, a.k.a Ruth Nicolaus, describes the Shrine Rodeo and Demo Derby that will be at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds in Tonganoxie this Memorial Day Weekend. Nicolaus is a publicist for the event and says good, old-fashioned family can be found at anything the Shriners coordinate.
“It’s just great, family fun,” said Rodeo Ruth. “Affordable for families, clean, wholesome, a professional sport that you don’t have to break the bank to come out.”
Rodeo Ruth says even the rodeo clown will keep it classy.
“You’re not gonna hear dirty words or see things that are questionable for your kids,” said Rodeo Ruth. “Even our rodeo clown keeps everything very family friendly and wholesome, and we’re pretty proud of that fact.”
If you aren’t that into rodeo, there is more than just rodeo at the Shrine Rodeo and Demo Derby.
“There’s more than just rodeo there’s inflatable games for the kids, a craft fair, there’s vendors on site with the most delicious funnel cakes,” said Rodeo Ruth.
Rodeo Ruth says the Shrine Rodeo is a good way to have fun with the family at an affordable price.
“Rodeo is America’s original extreme sport but yet we’re not high-dollar like pro-football or Major League Baseball, we’re affordable for families,” said Rodeo Ruth. “Where else can you go for an adult ticket for $12 and a child ticket for $4 for a couple of hours of entertainment?”
Tickets are available at the B&J Country Mart in Tonganoxie, at the Abdallah Shrine Temple or at the gate. Family fun packs are only $40, which gets in two adults, two children and includes 4 meal deals. Pit passes to the demo derby are available for $25. For more information visit ShrineRodeo.com.
