III. RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

Internship Program |
During the reporting period our SEU hosted a student intern from University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Working primarily in the news and sports departments, the intern also had the opportunity to observe the daily workings of each department in the radio station. Duties included writing, editing and delivering on-air newscasts, stories and sports updates as well as covering events and press conferences. |

Participate in at least four activities sponsored by community groups active in broadcast employment issues, including conventions, career days, and workshops and similar activities. |
On April 2012 our SEU participated in the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Career Day. Our Program Director hosted round-table discussions with students pertaining to sports talk radio hosting and play-by-play announcing. Approximately 45 students were present. |

On May 2012 our SEU participated in the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Sportscasting Seminar at Kauffman Stadium. Our Program Director hosted play-by-play sessions with 60 current or aspiring sportscasters in Kansas. Items discussed included play-by-play sportscasting and other work related information to get involved with news, sales and potential internships. |
